Concert Brief: Southampton Guildhall

General information for concerts in Southampton Guildhall

Access

Use the main door of the Guildhall until 5.00pm. Thereafter, access and exit is via the south stage entrance, which will be attended.

Music and covers

Black music covers are provided at the afternoon rehearsal. After the concert, please leave covers, together with hired music, in the boxes provided in the dressing room.

On stage

For the performance, the chorus enters the stage row by row. Sit down immediately you reach your place. The chorus stands with the orchestra and does not applaud when the conductor and soloists enter.. Follow any briefed sits and stands and those indicated by the conductor. At the interval (~20 minutes), the chorus leaves the stage in reverse order, returning at the end of the interval as for the start of the concert. Please note the stage area becomes increasingly warm over the course of the afternoon and evening.

Changing facilities

The chorus uses the dressing rooms on the upper level at the rear of the stage. The easily remembered combination for the door to the toilets is displayed on the inside of each dressing room door.

Security

During the afternoon the Guildhall remains open to the public. Security is not guaranteed. Anything left unattended is at your own risk!

Parking

There is limited "pay and display" parking at the Guildhall, but several other car parks are nearby (e.g. Grosvenor Square). Allow yourself plenty of time to find somewhere to park.
