Rutter Requiem Duruflé Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens Fauré Cantique de Jean Racine Bax Sonata for flute and harp New London Ensemble Conductor, David Gibson. photo © Eric Hardy A concert of French and English music in the beautiful setting of St Cross Church. Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine is one of the most popular choral works of the moment. Duruflé’s Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens are short, contrasting, a cappella works of great beauty, based on Gregorian plainchant. Bax’s Sonata for flute and harp will provide an instrumental interlude - an English composer inspired by the music of Ireland. The main work is John Rutter’s Requiem, in the version for organ and chamber ensemble - a gentle meditation of themes of life and death, using a selection of texts from the Latin Mass and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Tickets, priced at £12 (concessions available), can be obtained from the Winchester Cathedral Box Office. Click here to buy tickets online, or telephone the Box Office on 01962 857275. Please note that there are very few tickets left -- 16, earlier this morning (13 June).
