Southampton Philharmonic Choir - Making Music Live in Southampton since 1860!

One of the longest-established and most respected choirs in Southern England, we are a large choir performing choral music from the classical and contemporary repertoire with professional orchestras and soloists. We sing with the Southampton University Philharmonic Choir, giving us a unique blend of youthful and experienced voices. The choir performs major concerts three times each year, generally at Southampton Guildhall or Winchester Cathedral. Additional performances include our popular concert of Christmas Music at Turner Sims (the Concert Hall at the University of Southampton). We also hold regular Choral Workshops for keen singers who are interested in developing their ability.

At the start of the 2019 season we adopted Solent Mind as our new nominated charity (until summer 2021). Thanks to the generosity of the audience at our November 2019 and March 2020 concerts we have raised £930.80 in aid of the charity. During the pandemic lockdown, we have continued to fundraise for Solent Mind, raising over £2000 by walking, running, rowing, cycling and dancing 67 miles (the notional "as-the-crow-flies" distance between our rehearsal venue, Turner Sims, and the venue for our postponed 7 June concert with The Hanover Band, St John's Smith Square in London).
