Concert

Join us for our traditional concert of Christmas music and readings, followed by complimentary mulled wine and mince pies in the foyer. Martin Hall conducts the SPC and SU Phil, and we are delighted to welcome, for the fourth year running, Stroud School Choir and their musical director, Tanya Fay. Get in to the Christmas spirit now! Hear the SPC and soloist, Robert Livingstone sing the Vaughan Williams carol, We've been a while a-wandering.

Members of the choir for the mayor-making, please meet at the Guildhall from 9.40 am. We'll have a brief warm-up in the auditorium before the guests take their places. The ceremony should be finished by approximately 12.15 pm.

Rutter Requiem Duruflé Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens Fauré Cantique de Jean Racine Bax Sonata for flute and harp New London Ensemble Conductor, David Gibson. photo © Eric Hardy A concert of French and English music in the beautiful setting of St Cross Church. Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine is one of the most popular choral works of the moment. Duruflé’s Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens are short, contrasting, a cappella works of great beauty, based on Gregorian plainchant.
